In 1979, John Tonder, a native of Denmark, had the novel idea of bringing his country's traditional paving methods to California and starting up a business. Now his business has grown into a large, successful enterprise, and the Tonder family remains dedicated to providing "Old World" quality, integrity and craftsmanship to the pavingstone manufacturing industry in California.
